Who We Are Learning From/With

CONTACT SBC

Building equity, community, & better alternatives (as we dismantle white supremacist capitalist ableist cisheteropatriarchy) takes time & resources. SBC is in it for the long haul! Here are some streams of inspiration we draw from in the ongoing process of education & skill-building on the path to collective liberation. Please check out & enthusiastically support our friends, colleagues & teachers:

Co-Conspirators & Collaborators

Ren Pilinger, Administrative Support for SBC
Ren has provided administrative, bookkeeping, and marketing support to small businesses and non-profit organizations for 12+ years. He is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, offering affordable community acupuncture at nearby Boston Acupuncture Project (74 Fairmount Ave, Hyde Park, MA 02136).

Buy Nothing: Jules is a regular, enthusiastic participant in two Buy Nothing groups in 02131, as a practice of resource-sharing, avoiding waste, neighborhood-building, & alternative economics.

National Harm Reduction Coalition: Jules has been inspired by, & learned from, this team from their early years as a baby harm reductionist in New York City. HRC's work is particularly instructive about the intersection of the war on drugs, racial equity, & faith communities.

Saltbox Financial: Vera Kelsey-Watts has supported SBC with tax preparation, guidance on non-extractive socially responsible investing, & sensible retirement savings. Jules wholeheartedly recommends this team as values-aligned, ethical fee-only financial professionals.

SURJ Boston: Jules has been an active member & a co-facilitated a JP/Rozzie base group, a biweekly gathering for anti-racist education, reflection, & community building for white people striving to become effective accomplices in dismantling white supremacy (in us & the world).

The Theater Offensive: Jules had been a sustainer for a decade & joined the board in 2020, where they are regularly inspired & stretched by the brilliance of the staff, artists, & fellow board members.

Translate Gender: Jules is proud to receive professional support from staff at this awesome trans-focused collective located in Northampton, MA.

The Wildwood Path: Jules participated in the 2018-2019 cohort & grew joyfully through much discomfort in this vibrant community exploring nature connection, ancestral practices, & collective healing.
