"We all came in on different ships,

but we're all  in the same boat now."

Same Boat Consulting
Facilitating impactful, collaborative conversations in health care
  • Individual Walk Therapy
  • Clinical Supervision rooted in Harm Reduction (destigmatizing HIV, drug use, sex work, & gender nonconformity through an antiracist, anticapitalist lens)
  • Culturally-informed, collaborative, interactive, nuanced, fun, & tailored Training & Technical Assistance to community health programs

Why?
  • Because equitable access to healthcare, including mental health care, is a human right
  • Because capitalism, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, & fatphobia in health care are literally killing people
  • Because well-trained & well-supported teams provide better care to clients, turn-over less, grow professionally, mentor others, & have meaningful job satisfaction
  • Because all workers deserve the quality support to do their vital & challenging jobs well
  • Because together we can help people transform their own lives & inspire others to do so!
  • Because challenging, authentic conversations can transform conflicts & lay the groundwork for meaningful, effective, long-term collaboration on teams
  • Because working together we can end the HIV epidemic & transform the stigma & intersecting inequalities that are its root causes

About the Founder
Jules Patigian (pronouns: they/them) is a seasoned, bilingual, EMDR certified Licensed Mental Health Clinician (licensed in MA, RI and VT). With 25 years of experience of intersectional practice, Jules is rooted in the Boston HIV community, & currently serves as the principal of Same Boat Consulting, an LGBTBE**-certified company that offers tailored accompaniment (training, technical assistance, & supervision) to community health programs nationally. Jules specializes in collaborative clinical supervision for harm reduction & peer support programs, & offers walking counseling centering LGBTQ young adults.

Raised on a MA cranberry bog, proud descendant of genocide survivors, shaped by swanky education, & forged in the cauldron of NYC queer/AIDS activism in the 90s, Jules is a world-crosser & a bridge-builder. Jules has served incredible communities from syringe exchange staff in Cambridge to community health works in rural New Mexico & Arkansas; from peer advocates leaving incarceration in LA to Clinical Supervisors in the Bronx; & from young public health professionals in Malawi to trans social work students in Boston. They bring a passion for strengths-based, culturally & trauma-informed engagement to their creative work with clients, staff, & programs. Jules is committed to integrating wellness into health care through movement, expressive arts, meditation & spiritual practices. They work joyfully & tenaciously at/from the place where movements for queer/trans liberation, dismantling white supremacy, & building equitable communities of reciprocity & care meet. Jules is a dedicated writer, dancer, animal-lover, nature nerd, student of ritual & magic, & whole-hearted work in progress.
